Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 14, 2026

AHC Player ("we", "our", or "us") is a media player for Android TV / Fire TV that streams video from your own home network storage (an AiHomeCloud NAS, an SMB share on your LAN, or local/USB storage on the device). This policy explains what data the app accesses and how it is used.

1. Data We Collect

AHC Player does not operate any servers of its own and does not collect personal data for advertising or analytics. The app handles the following data:

2. Third-Party Services

AHC Player uses The Movie Database (TMDB) to fetch posters, backdrops, titles, and genre information for the media in your library. To do this, the app sends the parsed title of a file (e.g. "Inception 2010") to TMDB's public API. No personal data, device identifiers, or file contents are sent to TMDB — only the title text used for the metadata lookup. See TMDB's privacy policy at themoviedb.org/privacy-policy.

All other network connections (to your AiHomeCloud NAS or SMB shares) go directly from your device to servers on your own local network, over a connection secured with certificate pinning. AiHomeCloud does not operate or have access to these servers.

3. Local & Network Storage Access

To browse and play files from internal storage or a USB drive, the app requests the Android "Videos" / storage permission. This is used solely to list and play video files you choose — nothing is uploaded or shared. The app also uses your WiFi network connection (ACCESS_WIFI_STATE, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE) to discover and connect to your NAS and SMB shares on your local network.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share any data with third parties, other than the minimal TMDB metadata lookups described above. There are no advertising SDKs, and no analytics or crash reporting services in this app.

5. Data Deletion

All app data — saved sources, login tokens, watch history, and cached metadata — is stored locally on your device. You can remove it at any time via Android Settings → Apps → AHC Player → Clear Data, or by uninstalling the app. AiHomeCloud has no copy of this data and cannot delete it on your behalf.

6. Children's Privacy

AHC Player is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy occasionally. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
