AiHomeCloud — your own private home NAS, set up from your phone

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I set up a new server?

Open the app's Installer Wizard — it scans your phone's local network for a bare Linux board (Raspberry Pi, Radxa, or similar), connects over SSH, and walks you through creating an admin account and installing the AiHomeCloud backend. No manual IP entry needed; the wizard scans your phone's actual subnet.

Do I need internet access to use AiHomeCloud?

No. Everything works over your local WiFi network. If you want to access your server away from home, you can optionally connect it to your own Tailscale network.

Where is my data stored?

Entirely on the server you set up — never on any AiHomeCloud-operated cloud service. Media, accounts, and settings all live on your own hardware.

Why does the app ask for photo/video permission?

Only to let you upload media from your phone to your own server, and to browse/stream media already stored there. It's never used for anything else.

How do I remove my data or reset the server?

Use the app's Factory Reset feature to wipe your server's data, or remove it directly from the server. AiHomeCloud's developer has no copy of your data to delete.

Is my data safe?

Yes. AiHomeCloud has no servers of its own. Your account, library, and settings stay on your own hardware, reached over an encrypted connection — never on AiHomeCloud's developer's infrastructure.
